摘要

Objectives This study investigated the effects of regular nutrition consultations on reducing risk factors, including the body-mass index (BMI), body composition, blood pressure, blood lipid profile, blood glucose-related markers, and inflammatory factors for cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). Methods Data were collected from participants (n=129) who completed 8 dietary consultations and were divided into two groups according to the regularity of the consultations, such as the irregular group (with irregular consultation intervals, n=39) and the regular group (accepted consultation once every 3 weeks, n=90). Results Compared with the irregular group, the regular group showed more significant reductions in CVD risk factors, such as BMI, body fat, blood triglycerides (TG), total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C), and insulin levels. Moreover, participants with a BMI of ≥ 27 kg/m2 presented significantly obvious improvements in CVD risk factors, such as body weight, BMI, visceral fat weight, and blood TG, TC, LDL-C, HbA1c, and insulin levels. Conclusion There is a proven benefit to regular nutritional consultation for adults with risk factors of cardiovascular diseases, particularly for those who are obese.
