Rapid airway compromise caused by neck trauma: A case report

Blunt laryngeal trauma can cause acute airway obstruction requiring emergency intubation or surgical airway. Although its incidence is low, it is truly an emergency condition in daily practice. We report the case of 46-year-old male motorcyclist whose chin was hit by a rolling door. Acute obstruction of the airway developed within 2 hours. With emergency intubation and half month hospitalization, the patient was discharged healthy. In conclusion, early diagnosis and rapid management with blunt laryngeal trauma is the key point of the outcome.
