摘要

Sacrococcygeal teratoma (SCT) is very rare in adults and as a rule these tumors are benign, with extremely low
potential for malignancy. Incomplete removal of the tumor in the coccyx may regionally recur or metastasize. We
presented a case of a 17-year-old boy with a chief complaint of a palpable mass in the buttock. This mass grew
gradually without pain, but soft and tenderness were noted. He visited our out patient clinic and MRI was performed.
A well-defined soft tissue mass with predominant fat tissue and showed a intestine with haustration, with mild
enhancement after gadolinium administration. Surgery was performed with complete excision of the tumor and
resection part of the coccygeal bone. Findings on surgery revealed intestinal tract, respiratory tract wall, pancreas
tissue, meningeal tissue, fat necrosis with macrophage infiltrate and focal hemorrhage. Histological diagnosis was
compatible with a mature teratoma.
