N2 - Implant-dependent therapies are now growing in the modern world, due to their capacity to repair, rehabilitate, or improve damages in tissue or organ. Recently, several biopolymer as biomaterials are being used as orthopedic and dental implants due to their osteoconductive and antimicrobial nature. However, only few of them possess characteristics to be used as implant, which may be ascribed to poor mechanical properties and biocompatibility. However, these kinds of biopolymer could be modified to allow sufficient osseointegration. Therefore, in this chapter, we have made an effort to summarize various biomaterials used as implant and their coatings for therapeutic purposes.
