In modern data-driven neuroscience research, it is of paramount importance to develop computational tools, mathematical models, and computer simulations to understand and integrate the enormous amount of data generated by new experimental techniques. The traditional research method of a single research lab, having expertise in a single particular area, e.g. neurobiological background, and solely thinking with pencil and paper about his/her experimental finding, will not yield significant breakthrough in the future; data is getting too complex to understand without the help of computer models and computer-driven analysis tools.
