Abstract
Diabetes is a worldwide epidemic disease. It may lead to damages of the heart, blood vessels and kidney. Poor control of diabetes may cause serious chronic kidney injury. In addition, researches also reported both type 1 and type 2 diabetes will achieve higher survival rate after receiving kidney transplant. But, there are some special issues should be considered in peri-transplantation stage. Therefore, timely assessment and proper implementation could help diabetes patients in this stage. This paper aimed to review screening process of patients with diabetic end stage renal disease, preoperative assessments, and postoperative transplant medications and glycemic control methods. We hope effective screening and proper perioperative care could lead to better life quality and long term survival of diabetic transplant patients
