Abstract

The National Library of Public Information (NLPI) cooperated with National Taipei University of Technology and Taipei Medical University to develop a digital children library for assisting children using digital technologies to search, browse, accept recommendation, and learn classification number. Research team explored the theme structure through metadata of children’s collections, readers’ borrowing and lingering records, in order to analyze grouped readers’ preferences and establish book recommended mechanism. We then developed a wearable smartwatch navigation system, RFID smart bookshelves and the visualized browsing interface for popular books, a digital touch-screen book-recommendation wall, and a virtual-reality immersed game for learning classification number of books. The smart library experiences children with innovative services of visualized interfaces and human-computer interactions that can help to promote reading literacy and develop a reading habit for children digital natives.
