Abstract

Knowledge management (KM) includes all phases of the knowledge, such as its creation, organization, storage, dissemination, utilization, innovation, and re-utilization. In each phase, different management methods and tools are applied. Therefore, scholars and experts from different domains approach KM from their specialized aspects. Library and Information Science (LIS) profession has been concerned in issues about acquiring, organizing, storing, and utilizing human being’s knowledge. Among those mentioned above, organizing recorded knowledge is the core competency of LIS profession and very suitable applying to KM related researches. This article explores the application of LIS concepts to knowledge organization. The concepts of KOS, coding systems, collection development, domain analysis, and information channels are discussed.
