Abstract
Based on the principle of thermal-economics, an equation for annual total operation cost of the hot air pipeline was derived by analyzing the process of hot air transport. By this equation the effects of pipe diameter and insulation thickness on the annual total operation cost were estimated. The synchronous design method for the hot air pipeline and the calculation formulas for optimal pipe diameter and insulation thickness were presented.
