Abstract

This chapter presents an overview of clinical cases, accompanied by academic commentary, that question and educate the reader about essential topics in implant dentistry, encompassing diagnosis, surgical site preparation and placement, restoration, and maintenance of dental implants. It explores how to sequence periodontal and implant therapy and talks about common risk factors for periodontitis and peri-implantitis. Clinical assessment before implant placement included hard and soft tissue examination. Congenital missing of lateral incisors is a common agenesis of the permanent teeth. The prevalence varies between different ethnicities but is estimated to be about 1-2%. The chapter also discusses the oral manifestations of the Papillon-Lefevre syndrome (PLS) and explores how to restore a case of PLS using dental implants. It describes the decision-making process for implant placement after traumatic injuries to the teeth in adolescents and the sequence of treatment after dental traumatic injuries.
