Abstract

A 52-year-old woman who was a victim of cervical cancer had received operation and radiation therapy to the lower abdomen 18 years previously. An intraspinal malignant schwannoma arising from the filum terminalis within the previous radiation field was found during this hospitalization. Surgical resection of the tumor was carried out; pathology proved to be a malignant schwannoma. A causal relationship between this tumor and radiation therapy is discussed.
