Abstract

A method for making micrometer-sized platelets of SBA-15 with vertical channels was discussed. The texture of the mesoporous silica platelets was investigated. The excess of sodium dodecylsulfate (SDS) in the composition probably leads to the slightly negatively charged bilayers. The oligosilicate ions are anionic under neutral pH conditions, and are not attracted to the SDS-rich bilayer to form other mesostructures.
