Fast-switching bistable light shutters based on dual-frequency cholesteric liquid crystals

Abstract

Fast-switching light shutter is investigated. It enables the reversably direct transitions between bistable states, and exhibits very short transition time from light-off focal conic state to light-on planar state as short as 10 ms.
