Abstract

The effects of testosterone on the prostacyclin production by aortas and the biosynthesis of thromboxane in platelets of male rats in vivo were investigated.Testosterone significantly inhibits prostacyclin production by aortas. However, no significant effect on thromboxane biosynthesis in platelets is observed. The results provide a plausible explanation for the thrombogenic effect of testosterone in rats.
