Abstract

Background:Chronic kidney disease (CKD), a silent epidemic, was regarded as one of the most significant chronic diseases in the world. Such high prevalence rate caused heavy burden to health insurance and loss of productivity to society. One possible solution was to enhance patients’ disease-specific health literacy that played key factors for better use of medical resources and more compliance behavior. Therefore, this study was aimed to develop CKD-specific health literacy assessment tool and user-friendly health education materials, so that we are able to find the deficiency of health literacy, and further able to educate patients to fill the gap.
