Abstract
LOINC (Logical Observation Identifier Names and Codes) has been widely adopted internationally. Adoption of LOINC codes for clinical laboratory practices can not only promote standardization of local codes of laboratory tests but speed tip globalization of the local medical information industry and increase competition in global market shares. This paper presents web-based assistant system for mapping local codes of laboratory tests to the corresponding LOINC codes. Due to familiarity of National Health Insurance (NHI) codes, the system can reduce the learning curve amid required domain knowledge, and hence, can facilitate the adoption of LOINC codes in Taiwan.
