Abstract

The streptovaricins (and other ansamycin antibiotics)3 derive an intrinsic helicity from their ansa rings. In connection with extensive studies of the biological activities of the streptovaricins and their derivatives, 2 we have examined the effect of this helicity on the activities displayed.
