Abstract

A new cross-linked collagen sponge prepared by glutamic acid dichloride (GD) and the evaluation of its physicochemical characteristics and in vitro biocompatibility was discussed. It was observed that the GD-crosslinked samples were evaluated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), mechanical strength and water shrinking ratio. It was found that the stabilization of collagen sponges could be obtained by crosslinking with GD solutions. The results show that the GD-crosslinked collagen was biocompatible with the fibroblast cells.
