N2 - Polysaccharide coatings fabricated using oxidized dextran (OD) were investigated. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) spectra show that the surface composition changes obtained before and after surface modification by polysaccharide coatings. The results show that the polysaccharide molecules were successfully introduced onto the substrate surface. The Cls high resolution XPS spectra of surfaces prepared under various coupling conditions also demonstrated that the final coating composition and structure was strongly dependant on the detailed coupling protocol used and the chemistry of the OD.
