Abstract
A patient with cervical spasm and progressive myelopathy due to spinal cord compression by a loop of abnormal extra-cranial vertebral artery at the cervicomedullary junction after head injury is presented. This occurrence is rare. Magnetic resonance image is diagnostic. Surgical decompression with a piece of silicon sling to retract the vertebral artery away from the cord was curative for the patient.
