Abstract
A 70-year-old man presented with a transitional cell carcinoma of the right renal pelvis. The endoscopic excision of bladder cuff and laparoscopic nephroureterectomy was performed smoothly. The bladder cuff could be removed through the laparoscope after excising the ureteric orifice by transurethral resection. The bladder defect was closed with 2-0 chromic cat-gut endo-sutures laparoscopically. The renal vein was controlled with an endo-GIA (United States Surgical Corporation, Norwalk, Connecticut, USA). The post-operative course was uncomplicated. The patient was ambulant 1 day post-operatively, and was discharged on day 5; he resumed his normal activities at 1 week. The details of the operative procedure will be presented and the related problem that this brand new technique elicits will be discussed.
