Abstract
With numerous trials conducted during the 1970s and 1980s evaluating coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG) versus medical treatment for patients with coronary artery disease (CAD), the absolute benefi t of surgery was shown to be prominent especially for those with more extensive coronary involvement. However, the pronounced effect of CABG for patients with multivessel CAD (MVD) has faced continuing challenges since the introduction of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and evolving revascularization technology, such as coronary stents.
