N2 - According to the statistics provided by National Bureau of Controlled Drugs in Taiwan and the United Nations International Narcotics Control Board, the DDD (Defined Daily Doses) of morphine consumption per million inhabitants in Taiwan was 12.2 mg in 1987, and substantially increased to 257.7 mg in 2002, which has been growing by 20 times in 16 years. The average daily consumption of morphine in Taiwan is one-twelfth of in United States. [1]In this study, we use the National Health Insurance Research Database (NHIRD) as our data source. The data was then pre-processed and saved into the database. We also developed an online inquiry system, which allows users to setup their own search terms and query outpatient data for follow-up analysis. In the future, we will provide more search methods by using other terms such as ICD-9 (International Statistical Classification of Diseases) for inquiries. In addition, the study will analyze not only the use of morphine and their combined drugs, but also establish Bayesian network for establishing the relationship between parameters, and analyze the effect of combined drug on morphine dosage.
