Abstract
Seven novel abietanes were isolated from the leaves of Juniperus chinensis, in addition to the four known abietanes 4-epidehydroabietic acid, 7α-hydroxycrystallitrisic acid, 7-oxocallitrisic acid and royleanone. The new compounds were shown by spectral and chemical methods to be 7α-hydroxyabieta-8,11,13-trien-19-yl acetate, 7α-hydroxyabieta-8,11,13-trien-19-al, 7α-hydroxyabieta-8,13-dien-19-al, 7-oxoabieta-8,13-dien-19-al, 12-oxoabieta-7, 13-dien-19-al, 13β-hydroxy-7-oxoabieta-8(14)-en-19-al and 6α, 13β-dihydroxy-7-oxoabieta-8(14)-en-19-al.
