臺灣老人成功老化與活躍老化現況: 多層次分析

Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to describe successful aging and active aging among the Taiwan elderly by physical, mental and social health indicators, and to explore the effects of individual and area characteristics to provide the policy suggestions for the health promotion of the elderly. Methods: Data came from the 1999 “Survey of Health and Living Status of the Elderly in Taiwan”, samples were drawn from those aged 70 years or over, totally 2,130 persons. We defined “active aging”, an advanced criteria of elder health, included physical, mental and social dimensions and simultaneously running well, and emphasized the independence and participation. Active aging indicators included normal ADLs and IADLs for physical health, normal cognitive function and absence of depressive symptoms for mental health, and high social support and participation of productive activities for social health. Successful aging was defined as basic criteria of elder health, including indicators of normal ADLs, normal cognitive function and absence of depressive symptoms, and with high social support. Individual and area effects to successful/active aging were analyzed by multi-level logistic regression analysis.
