Abstract

Seroprevalence of toxoplasmosis among domestic dogs was investigated in Nan-ao district, lIan county and King-fon district, Taitung county by using the latex agglutination assay. A total of 105 sera, including 52 samples from Nan-ao district and 53 samples from King-fon district of eastern Taiwan, were screened for anti-Toxoplasma antibodies. The overall seroprevalence was 20.0% (21/105). No significant difference was observed in seroprevalence between males (28.1%) and females (20.0%) (p>0.05) in Nan-ao district. In contrast, a significant difference was found in seroprevalence between males (6.9%) and females (25.0%) (p<0.05) in Kingfon district. However, there was no significant difference among seroprevalence of domestic dogs between Nan-ao (25.0%) and King-fon (15.1%) districts of eastern Taiwan.
