Abstract
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is the most common category of sleep-disordered breathing. The common sign s of OSA include loud and irregular snoring and disturbed sleep due to the multiple awakenings. OSA is frequently associated with cardiovascular and metabolic disorders. Many studies have confirmed that there are clear benefits for patients who treated OSA. Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) is the gold standard treatment for OSA, but there are many patients with OSA who are intolerant of CPAP therapy. Oral appliance treatment is alternative therapy for mild to moderate OSA. This article makes some literature reviews and discusses effect, mechanisms, clinical guide line and further studies of oral appliance therapy for OSA.
