Abstract

This article investigated the health promoting behavior of toddlers and related sociodemographic factors of parents. The study design was a cross-sectional method. The participants were selected by venience sampling method. The final sample consisted of 410 parents of toddlers. Toddler Health Promoting Scale were used for data collection. Questionnaires were sent out with a valid response rate of 100%. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, T-test, one way ANOVA, Scheffe's posteriori comparison and Pearson's correlation. It was found that ”hygienic habit” and ”eating habit” were performed the best in parents promoting toddler health behaviors, but ”routine of life” and ”physical fitness” were the worst. The parents with high school degree performed better than the parents with master degree in hygienic habit of promoting toddler health behaviors. The parents with master degree performed better than the parents with high school degree in safety life of promoting toddler health behaviors. The foreign mothers performed poorly in development promotion of promoting toddler health behaviors. The study suggesting the pediatric nurses should enhance parents in the ”routine of life” and ”physical fitness” health education although the parents with higher education degree. Helping the foreign mothers to learn more promoting toddler health behaviors.
