流浪、流亡、旅遊:中西接觸地帶的旅行書寫

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

This research is aimed to examine some travel literature writings of four writers, Xu Zhong-Pei, Sanmao, Rafael Alberti and Camilo José Cela. The investigation is designed to observe how these writers reflected their points of view and attitudes toward unfamiliar environments as well as the people with whom they got in touch. Two of these writers used to live in Spain; one visited China (1952) and another visited Taiwan (1994). No matter how long they stayed or what kind of motivation for their writings, we can see some different descriptions from their role as a tourist, traveler, visitor, flâneur or writer. Travelers tend to imagine prior to their travel, and then things would come out of their imagination as a surprise and empathy. This investigation will review some theoretical studies of travel literature in an attempt to look into the cultural conflicts or assimilation between each other, and how the writers reconstructed their concepts and revealed their feelings with their personal experiences.
