Abstract
Department of Radiology has been categorized as a "high risk area" for SARS infection control in the hospital. The major role in SARS control is the segregation of SARS from non-SARS patients in respects of the use of the equipments, examination rooms and examination schedule. The goals in SARS control are to reduce the risk of infection as much as possible to our staffs as well as cross infection among patients. We organized a SARS infection control team and established our "SARS Infection Control Guidelines" to assist and manage our department and to co-ordinate among departments. We enforce infection control by strictly following the guidelines in the following items: examination request, procedures of screening patients and examining SARS patients, appointment booking, X-ray interpretation, staffing, room and equipment cleaning, visitor control, monitoring and measures, and personal care. The authors would like to share with you our experience in this article.
