Abstract

This article explores the problems of LIS undergraduate education in Taiwan
using the methodology of qualitative research. After analyzing interview transcripts,
the researcher induces three major factors (personal, LIS department, and social
environment) as the reasons for these interviewees to apply for the admission from
non-LIS graduate schools. Among these three factors, the “LIS department factor”
is further discussed. The common characteristics among interviewees are then described. At the end, three suggestions are proposed as the conclusion.
