Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to understand the ranking of all skill factors of scoring, the difference of all skill factors of scoring between won and lost sets and the relationship between all skill factors of scoring and lead to win and to establish the regression formula in the female third grade of university volleyball tournament.
Subjects: The analyzed data of this study were collected by recording 997 points during 51 sets which had 8 teams to participate in the female third grade of university volleyball tournament in 2004.
Results: 1.The ranking of skill factors of scoring percentage are opponent errors:41.93% (attack errors: 32.01%, serve errors: 9.92%), attack after defense: 27.88%, attack after receiving serve 12.63%, serving: 12.44% and blocking: 5.12% . 2.To compare all skill factors of scoring between won and lost sets there are significant difference in factors of attack after defense, serving(p<.01), opponent attack errors(p<.05). There are no significant difference in the other two factors .3.Two scoring factors of attack after defense and serve reach significant level(p<.05) by using the method of stepwise multiple regression to evaluate the relationship between lead to win and five skill factors of scoring. The R square of scoring by opponent errors is 49.5% and scoring by serve is 10.6% that show the combination of predictive validity is 60.3%. The formula of lead to win is ZY=.619×(scoring by attack after defense) +.339×(scoring by serve).
Conclusion: Reducing the attack errors is the most important issue in training the female third grade volleyball teams. Therefore enhancing the basic training is very important and keeps the strategies of competition simple. Because these players have not been trained for a long time, it's difficult for the coach to plan strategies. Too complicated strategies could let them make more mistakes . The results of this study are not the same as other studies which subjects are in different volleyball level. In the future we can aim at all different levels of university volleyball tournaments to analyse all skill factors of scoring in order to provide information to teams in different level.
