Description
Implementing new and under-utilized vaccines is one of the important issues under the threat of newly infectious diseases, especially under globalization. This 3-year research project is intended to explore the public policy and social recognition in implementing the newly developed and not entirely approved vaccination. According to the proposal, the main task for this year (the third year) is to analysis the dataset collected through national-scale telephone survey in the second year.
From the dataset, we analyzed several topics including factors influencing participants' decision on vaccination, participants' perspectives of forced vaccination, perspectives toward social impact of HPV vaccine, associations between confidence and acceptance of Vaccine Compensation System, public engagement on ethical principles in allocating scarce vaccine resources, determinants of vaccine confidence (acceptance, delay or refusal) and the impact of nationality of vaccine brand. The study found that except the worry of side effects of vaccine, associations between participants' actual vaccine refusal and their trust in government, governing political party and statistically significant. In addition, the nationality of the vaccine brand is strongly associated with their decision to vaccinate. The quality of the vaccine brand is the most important concern of the participants.
