Project Details

Description

Recent reports have shown that, aside from motor dysfunction, Parkinson’s disease (PD) patients also exhibit some degree of GI inflammation、enteric neuropathology and GI dysfunction. Gut microbial dysbiosis and alteration of microbial metabolites in Parkinson’s disease (PD) have been increasingly reported. In the gut, the three major Trp metabolism pathways leading to serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine), kynurenine, (Kyn), and indole derivatives are under the direct or indirect control of the microbiota. The aim of this study is going to study the effect of long term dietary Tryptophan supplementation strategies in Parkinson’s disease Progression and Tryptophan Metabolism with PLAG6 Knockin Mice. The project will be completed in three executive years. The first year will study the effect of long term dietary Tryptophan supplementation in PD progression and antioxidant capacity; The second year will study the effect of long term dietary Tryptophan supplementation in PD no-motor dysfunction;last year project will focus on the correlation between tryptophan metabolism and gut microbiota in PLAG6 Knockin Mice with long term dietary Tryptophan supplementation. We hope this research results can provide the potential modulation of intestinal tryptophan metabolism information as a therapeutic option for PD patient in the future.
