Study on the Inhibitory Effects of Saponins Obtain from Different Paris Polyphylla Strains on Progression in Triple Negative Breast Cancer Induced by Neurotransmitters

Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is not applicable to the existing chemo-drugs and target-drugs for breast cancer. The metastatic rate and recurrence of TNBC are higher than those of other types of breast cancer, as well as the prognosis is very poor. Neurotransmitters around tumor cells change the microenvironment of tumors are associated with drug resistance, metastasis and survival of cancer cells via micro-RNA and exosome secreting and excreting the progression of TNBC. The project aims to block TNBC worsening induced by neurotransmitters and to delay the progression of TNBC or to develop new materials for adjuvant chemotherapeutic drugs to break through the treatment difficulties. The preliminary results have confirm that Paris polyphylla and its saponin ingredients gracillin and paris VI inhibited the growth of several kinds of cancer cells at low concentrations. In addition, saponins have the potential to regulate neuron cells and the secretion of neurotransmitters. Therefore, exosomal micro-RNA will be the target in this project to investigate the effects of saponins from different species of P. polyphylla like chonglou saponin I, polyphyllin II, dioscin, polyphyllin VI, polyphyllin VII, progenin III on the regulation of growth inhibition in breast cancer cells, as well as the mechanism of action of saponins on neurotransmitters-induced TNBC deterioration. P. polyphylla may has the potential to develop as a adjuvant chinese medicine for TNBC therapy.
