SATB2可調節多種胚胎發育程序,可透過對多能性基因的調控來維持細胞多能性,且能決定細胞分化命運,但尚不清楚SATB2在生殖細胞系發育過程之功能。本研究,我們致力探索SATB2如何與關鍵的微環境蛋白交互作用,藉由受SATB2複合體轉錄啟動的基因網絡維持幹細胞的多能性。由於提升SATB2表現可增強幹細胞特性,在概念的創新與應用層面,未來可進一步擴展到幹細胞療法,應用於無精症,睾丸腫瘤或卵巢早衰症的生殖系幹細胞再生。應用於臨床試驗,增強生殖系幹細胞的離體細胞活性後,再移植回低生育力患者。亦可開發癌症治療,抑制SATB2或合併使用臨床試驗藥物的IGF-1R抑制劑,用於IGF-1R高表現的癌症。
