Project Details

Description

Nanotechnology is the most promising research and development fields in the twenty first century. Nowadays numerous human and financial resources have been invested in nanoscience and technology. Owing to the unique electric, thermal, magnetic, and optical properties of the nanocrystalline materials, experts in different R&D fields need to work together to improve the performance. For instance, nanomaterials can be used in electromagnetic wave absorbing and stealth applications, either for low-frequency civil usages or high-frequency military applications. The present research project is the second subproject of the grand project and will be responsible for the synthesis of nanocomposite absorbing materials by sol-gel and hydrothermal processes. During the first year, multiwalled carbon nanotubes and graphene will be used as template to deposit oxides via sol-gel and hydrothermal processes. During the second year, we will use iron nanowires as the template to prepare dielectric composite microwave absorbing materials. During the last year, patterned and/or structurally optimized nano-hybrid materials will be prepared with the assistance from the other subprojects. The electromagnetic properties of all nanomaterials and hybrid nanomaterials will be examined. We intend to build up the self-confident R&D abilities in manufacturing hybrid nanomaterials for electromagnetic wave absorbing/stealth applications at the end of this three-year project.
