Outcome Prediction of Early Intervention Service and Early Detection of Developmental Delay from Annual Developmental Assessment with Big Data Analysis

Project Details

Description

The core of value based care is achieving the best outcomes at the lowest cost. Although positive effects of early childhood development programs have been reported, the 30 year old early intervention service system of Taiwan lacks long term follow up and cost effectiveness reports. Children receive comprehensive developmental assessment for early intervention service eligibility. Our center has accumulated over 6000 such reports. We will use big data analytical technics to extract relevant data from these reports to build an early intervention database and analyze the outcome. Then we will use machine learning to develop predict models for common developmental disorders (attention deficit and hyperactive disorder, autism, intelligence disability, developmental language disorder, and emotional disorder). In the 2nd year, we will integrate reports from other hospitals to develop a system for outcome assessment and risk prediction to implement value based early intervention service. We will also use the system for early detection of infants and toddlers at risk of developing the above developmental disorders, collect their growing biological data including brain image, in order to identify the bio-markers of these disorders for early diagnosis.
