Project Details

Description

Competency-based medical education is an important direction in resident training around the world, as well as in Taiwan. In recent two years, some medical associations (ig: emergency medicine, family medicine, and anesthetic medicine…) in Taiwan are plaining resident training programs according to Milestone projects developed by Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). However, no solution for Taiwan to well-construct competency for medical students in medical school. Therefore, the purpose of this project is to develop a medical student competency framework through an integration of ACGME milestone and CanMEDs from Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Moreover, the project would like to apply the competency by developing a competency-based course of problem-based learning/ team-based learning (CB-PBL/TBL). The project plans to use three years for developing medical student competency, surveying current situation of medical school curriculum in Taipei Medical University, surveying current competency among year-5 medical student, and developing, implementing, and revising.
