Description
Based on R & D capabilities, intercollegiate cooperation and industry support, we integrate the resources of National Chiao Tung University, Instrument Technology Research Center, and National Center for High-Performance Computing to innovate the first state-of-the-art 3D Connex Bio-factory consisting of the composite bio-ink (bio-CPC and PRP), live video monitoring, and instant stress analysis of the structure of the laminated print process. Our working plane is included in development of BioMultInk, constructed of 3D Connex Bio-factory, live video modeling and mesh-free structure analysis to obtain the project goal: ➊ development of additive manufacturing materials, ➋ constructed process and equipment, ➌ modeling and simulation for additive manufacturing, and ➍ medical qualification. To tackle the high prevalence of oral cancers in Taiwan, we are capable of constructing a preoperative model by CT images and computer aided surgery system, and building the postoperative soft/hard tissue morphology by the biogenic database of TMUH. With this state-of-the-art 3D Connex Bio-factory, we can print the designed soft/hard tissue and directly replace the cancer resection area. Based on Prof. Ou’s expertise and past accomplishments in dental research and translation medicine research, we will implement the 3B process: Bench→Bed→Bioprinting. By integrating the basic research and clinical needs, we will promote the application of this state-of-the-art 3D Connex Bio-factory in craniofacial reconstruction. The invention of the 3D Connex Bio-factory is a breakthrough in bioprinting and will definitely improve the quality of life of patients with oral cancers. After finish this project, we hope implement the translational medicine in clinical use, develop medical supplies personnel to promote industry-university cooperation, create derivative startups to create more employment opportunities, and counsel 3D bio-printing regulations change.
