The main purpose of this investigation is to explore the physician patient communication for plastic cosmetic medicine from gender perspective, and to examine the media coverage of cosmetic medicine advertisement through the internet. Research methods include reviewing the existing literature and conducting content analyses and in-depth interviews. The literature review will be performed mainly to explore the existing research and strategies concerning plastic cosmetic medicine related physician patient communication. The content analysis will include an analysis of the media coverage of cosmetic medicine advertisement. In addition, the in-depth interviews with physicians, patients, and journalists will also be conducted. The expected results of this study would be beneficial to the development of health policies and physician-patient communication strategies. Furthermore, as this issue is one facing many physicians, these results may also be used to guide curriculum planning in medical education.
