Description
In light of the increasing incidence for UV-induced acute and chronic skin damage and the progressive depletion of the ozone layer, including sunburn, pigmentation, photo-aging and photo-damage and skin cancer. Many researchers dedicated to find the natural active ingredients for suppressing photo-damage. Safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.) is an important medicinal plants, natural red dye and food coloring. Studies have found that major active ingredient of safflower-hydroxysafflor yellow A (HSYA), which has anti-oxidation, anti-coagulant and anti-inflammatory effects. However, the skin protective effect of HSYA still unclear. Our previous study has found that free radical scavenging effect of HSYA on superoxide anion, hydroxyl radical and peroxide radicals. Further clinical experiments have showed that cream containing HSYA increase the degree of the subjects’ facial skin moisture, and improve the situation of pigmentation. Whether HSYA can provide anti-skin aging effect and its mechanism of action remains unclear. Interestingly, we are in the pre-experiment found that, HSYA mushroom tyrosinase inhibition and have strong absorbance of UVA. After different doses of UVA irradiation, it is found that the amount of UV stability. Our laboratory has been established photoaging UVA-induced skin cell damage cell mode analysis photoaging indicators of technology, including the determination of the content of intracellular reactive oxygen species and antioxidant enzymes, and keratinocytes related message delivery path. In this study, the proposed one-year plan, will human keratinocytes photodamage and Drug UVA-induced stimulation of human melanoma cell activation mode, assessment against photo-aging of safflower yellow pigment and melanin impact and mechanisms, and to in vitro after the skin transmission system analysis HSYA efficiency in the transmission of percutaneous absorption, phase of development, the new contribution as skin care cosmetics ingredients. Because the stratum corneum also is the main part of the cosmetics smudged on the human body, the efficiency of transdermal absorption should be discussed. Thus, carthamus yellow has the potential to become a useful skin-whitening agent in the future.
