Project Details

Description

Worldwide, neurological diseases pose a significant threat to the life and wellbeing at the individual and social level. Besides that, neurological disorders present a serious economic burden to the patient family as well as to the society too. Fundamental research activities that create, the possibilities for further translational research, are of high importance in order to ameliorate the effects of these devastating diseases. The ultimate goal of the current research proposal is to find one or more therapeutic targets for neurodegenerative diseases like Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, Frontotemporal Lobar Dementia as well as neurodevelopmental disorders like Autism Spectrum Disorder. This project, upon successful completion, would expect to yield novel therapeutic intervention strategies that could, in future, be successfully used to improve medical and economic burdens of these neurological diseases from the patients and their families. In addition to this, the current research proposal would shed light upon common underlying mechanistic pathways involved in neurodegenerative and neurodevelopmental diseases. Thus, the current research project is expected to open new avenues of future research.
