特發性肺纖維化病人的肺功能會持續惡化而導致預後不佳, 目前仍無可治癒的藥物。本研究初步發現特發性肺纖維化病人的肺組織中TRIM5蛋白表現量異常偏高,且可調控肋膜間皮細胞的間皮間質轉形和細胞遷移造成肋膜下肺實質纖維化; 而抑制TRIM5則可減少肋膜間皮細胞的間皮間質轉形和細胞遷移。因此開發具抑制TRIM5功效的藥物,或許可以改善特發性肺纖維化病人的預後。
