Description
Isolated soy protein (ISP) is a well-known supplement and has been reported to be beneficial for health, improves exercise performance, body composition and increases energy utilization. ISP has multifunctional bioactivities and is rich with branched chain amino acids (BCAA) which has been confirmed to have a positive effect on the regulation of body weight, muscle protein synthesis. Recently, exercise and fitness training programs have attracted the public's attention in recent years. Sports nutrition supplementation is also an important issue in the global sports market. However, little is known about whether ISP and/or strength exercise training benefit postpartum woman. We aimed to evaluate the potential beneficial effects of soy protein supplementation combine exercise training in postpartum mice (n=40). A total of OVXICR female mice (14-weeks old) will be divided into four groups (n=8) to receive vehicle or soy protein (12.3 g/kg BW) by oral gavage for six weeks. The each of five groups are control group (Vehicle), supplementation with isolated soy protein group (ISP), exercise training group (ET), ISP plus ET group (ISP+ET). Exercise performance will be evaluated after physical challenge by forelimb grip strength, exhaustive swimming time. In biochemical profiles, we will evaluate the serum glucose level and tissue damage markers such as lactate, ammonia, glucose, blood urine nitrogen (BUN) and creatinine kinase (CK). Strength exercise is very important sport mode for the elderly. However, the execution of strength exercise on the elderly is not easy so that researches in this area are still lack in our country. Whether the resistance exercise is suitable for the training mode of the elderly in our country or not still need further research. This project will collect literature to convene a meeting of experts, design the elderly muscle strength exercise prescription model and perform the pilot intervention in the first year; in the second and three-year, our project plan to collect 100 female cases with age over 60 and BMI> 27, T-score<-1 whom will be divided into two groups. each group contains 50 participants. Prescription of muscle strength exercise model as well as the control group exercise prescription will be given dividedly. The effect of weight loss and changes in body composition will be detected before the exercise prescription and three months later. After 6 months, the effect of weight loss and life satisfaction will be tracked. In the future, we hope the results of our study would be important references of strength sports training of our female elderly citizens. Moreover, we conducted a randomized controlled study to investigate effects of progressive resistance exercise with ISP supplement for osteosarcopenia post menopause elderly women for 12 weeks of intervention. The controlled group received same exercise intervention but sham ISP supplement. The outcome measurement was evaluated by DEXA and physical capability before and after intervention All data will be analyzed by a two-way repeated measures ANOVA.
