Project Details

Description

The core humanities in Taiwan, including philosophy, face a crisis. Philosophy is one of the most difficult subjects, but it is unable to attract talented young scholars. If this trend continues, the future of philosophy in Taiwan is bleak. Indeed, the future of all core humanities is bleak. This project is designed to help attract more talented young scholars to the field by doing the following things: (a) concentrate on a growth area, the philosophy of consciousness; (b) collaborate among all the major philosophical approaches--analytic, continental, Buddhist, etc.; (c) work with young faculty teaching in this area, in all parts of Taiwan; (d) establish study groups in all parts of Taiwan; (e) run workshops and host conferences that involve international scholars who are willing to Association work with our young scholars; (f) coordinate with the Taiwan Philosophical; (g) fund Teaching Assistants for faculty who teach related courses; (h) provide scholarships for students writing their MA or PhD theses; and, (i) create opportunities for studying abroad.
