抗生素的濫用致伺機性菌與抗藥性菌陡增,危害人類健康或生命甚鉅。金黃色葡萄球菌(Staphylococcus aureus)與多重抗藥性金黃色葡萄球菌(MRSA)是常見的伺機性菌和抗藥性菌。具廣譜性殺菌力的抗微生物胜肽(AMPs),因天然AMPs (nAMPs)量少,化學合成AMPs (sAMPs)費用昂貴,故藉基因轉殖技術大量取得重組AMPs (rAMPs)為普遍的作法。若本計畫假說與目標得以成功驗證,或可開發更多抗菌的其它腸道寄生蟲源性AMPs,復以基因轉殖技術大量製造無毒性的rAMPs,可以開發作為多重抗藥性菌抗生素的替代臨床用藥,將有助於降低或減緩抗藥性菌株的產生。
