本計畫之目的在於藉由延續既有對沙門氏菌致病基因和抗藥性基因的發現,更深入發展新型標靶抗生素和快速準確診斷沙門氏菌及其抗藥性的工具,運用雙面向方法,發展對抗沙門氏菌感染之新策略。預期在社會上對於臨床應用、農畜牧業、食品工業、和感染管控等各領域提供有效協助,改善沙門氏菌抗生素抗藥性問題。在經濟上直接間接對人類健康,醫療成本的節省支出,並減少社會因抗生素抗藥性食物鏈之負面成本。在學術上可深入了解沙門氏菌的致病機轉及抗藥性基因之流行病學資訊,同時可將研究經驗進一步擴展到其他病原細菌致病基因和抗生素抗藥性的防治研究。
