In accordance with the Government's "New Southward Policy", this project will attempt to establish a database of ASEAN and South Asian countries' development and research innovation indicators on the field of science and technological policies, research activities, and technological practices. The project focuses mainly on Sri Lanka. The project managers (Professor Hung-Yi Chiou and Professor Ya-Wen Betty Chiu) and scholars of Sri Lanka will hold the meetings to collect data from web academic resources and to visit related institutions or governmental agencies. The "New Southward Policy" emphasizes on international connections, thus the strength of this research team is holding strong relations with the counterparts in Sri Lanka. Prof. Indika Karunathilake is professor in University of Colombo of Sri Lanka. The professor and the project managers are all very active members, and together serve in the Executive Council of the Asia Pacific Academic Consortium for Public Health (APACPH). Based on the long-term partnership and friendship, they can serve as the bilateral bridge to facilitate the linkage with local academia and public sectors between Taiwan and Sri Lanka.
