Association Study of Persistent Metabolic Syndrome, Inflammatory Markers, Adipose Markers and Mild Cognitive Decline(3/3)

Hypertension and diabetes have reported a positive association to the risks of cognitive impairment and dementia. However, the preclinical state, metabolic syndrome, was studied less and concluded inconsistently. In the 2008-2010 projects, we have recruited 2100 participants from community. Among them, 1533 participants were obtained complete data. The information of demographic characteristics from face-interview and height, weight, waist and hip circumference from physical examinations were collected. The blood samples were also collected. Among 1533 participants recruited at baseline, expected around 500 subjects will be followed in the 2013 project. In this project, we expect to follow the residual 1000 subjects. The cognitive status according by Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) and Montreal cognitive assessment (MoCA）will be examined and recorded. We aim to report the 5 years cumulative incidence of mild cognitive decline in community-based samples, and to investigate the associations between mild cognitive decline and the persistent durations, status and components of metabolic syndrome. In addition, after adjusted traditional cardiovascular risk factors, the association of cognitive decline will be examined in levels of high sensitive C reactive protein, tissue necrosis factor, interleukin 6, adeponectine and leptin.
